ABOUT ME

Following my graduation from the American University School of Communication in May 2018, I decided I wasn’t done with school just yet. Hofstra University’s graduate journalism program allowed me to continue my education and refine my writing skills in the process. I had the opportunity to cover many topics that I’m passionate about, namely the many intersections between sports and social justice issues. This website is a culmination of the work I did during my last semester of school (spring 2021) on the rise of women’s college sports.

I take pride in telling the stories of those working to elevate women’s college sports and hope women’s sports as a whole continue to be recognized. Through my own career path, I have been lucky enough to meet people along the way who contributed to this project. Maria Marino, UConn women's basketball reporter at SNY (where I currently freelance), dedicated a lot of time and resources in allowing me to interview her multiple times. I commend the work she and all interviewees for this piece do on a daily basis to tell in-depth stories of women's sports.

I want to thank my capstone advisor, Carol Fletcher, for all the guidance she provided on this project. Chris Vaccaro and James Parziale are two additional professors who were very influential during my time at Hofstra. They each pushed me to higher levels of work than I had achieved in the past, and I believe my writing style is changed for the better because of Professor Parziale.
